“Black Friday” to “Praise Friday”
Dear Family & Friends,
On Friday eight of us tried to make the biggest shopping day into the biggest praise day of the year by reading the whole book of Psalms in five hours. This CLASSIC from July 2, 2004 describes the first time we did the Psalms as a Bible Marathon.
Last Saturday nine of us did a Psalms Bible marathon. Here is Dorie Halsey’s response to the day: “I was encouraged by reading the Psalms. That we can be the apple of our loving God’s eye makes me happy. Knowing that I am protected under the shadow of his wings makes me secure. That thanksgiving can be a sacrifice makes me ponder. But what I needed to hear most is that God loves the poor and needy. I recently returned from Africa: a week on the Indian ocean at a beautiful resort. Then one week in a town filled with refugees displaced by the brutal raids of a rebel army. Next, Karamoja which must be one of the most destitute places on earth. Not even the rebel army will go there because of fear. Darkness and violence prevail. Suffering is long and deep. The righteous suffer along with the wicked. The Psalms reminded me that God listens long and He never leaves. I am too weak to carry but a little burden. But they have a shepherd who leads them beside quiet waters and restores their souls. That is good news. I have the same shepherd who gives me rest and he restores my soul too.”

Thank you Dr. Garry for the reminder. When I am in Africa or thinking of my friends there, I love to read Psalm 4, for so many reasons.
What does it take to fully (K)atalog a book? Do you need help? What a great project you have undertaken. God fulfills dreams in unexpected ways often.
